Product Description of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) 2488 is a synthetic water-soluble polymer which is partially hydrolyzed. It contains acetate and hydroxyl functional elements that provide PVA with exceptional properties.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) 2488 is not only a water-soluble compound thickener but is an excellent protective colloid. PVA 2488 is commonly a chemical additive to mortar and cement.

It works to enhance the fluidity and cohesion of construction materials, and also reduces drying time significantly of the concrete surface. You can easily mix PVA 2488 is all types of organic solvents, however the product is not soluble in plant and animal grease or oil.

PVA 2488 is designed to improve the functionality of concrete and mortar. It has high tensile strength and is extremely flexible. It is odorless and packed in ready-to-use form.

Description

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA-2488) is an excellent dry mix material known to improve the workability of concrete. It is highly used as an additive to cement and mortar to enhance fluidity & cohesion and decrease the drying time of finished concrete surfaces.

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA-2488) stands out with a pH value of 5-7 and a purity of approximately 93.5%, ensuring optimal performance. Its viscosity ranges between 45-58 m.pa.s, complemented by a hydrolysis degree of 87-89% and a fine mesh size of 120, making it a top choice for high-quality applications.

Regarding the dosage of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA-2488), then it is recommended that 0.5 to 1.0% by weight of total mix i.e., 5 to 10 Kg in 1 Ton). To dissolve it, the suggested method is to add water (below 30°C) to the dissolving tank, start blending, and slowly add PVA at a rate of 10 kg/min. Ensure full dispersion (10-20 minutes), then heat the solution to 90°C for 1 hour to dissolve completely.
